Leaving a Lasting Legacy of Love
It should come as no surprise to anyone who knew San that she was extremely organized and extremely prepared. Always. So I wasn’t surprised when I discovered, after her passing, how well she had her affairs in order. But I’m amazed.
During the last few years of her life, after years of prayer, meditation, self-reflection, and soul searching, my mom finally got her answer to the question, “What is my purpose?” She told me several times that she understood that her purpose was to help people.
While she tremendously helped people and organizations financially, she also saw her journey with cancer as a way to help people. She said several times, “I can’t help people if I haven’t been through it myself.” She would say this even through the worst of her suffering.
When we found out that the cancer had spread, we were in the midst of exploring different treatments when her doctor discovered that the original cancer had a sub-type, which he believed would alter the treatment protocol and improve her prognosis. After we received that information, Mom was encouraged, not only for herself, but for others. She said, “Now that he knows to look for that, it’s going to change the way he treats people/cases from now on. So I’m helping people that way!”
What she didn’t realize is how much she would continue to help people long after her life on earth…beyond finances and beyond cancer treatments.
And that’s the purpose of this page.
Mom’s final acts of love have blown our minds as a family. I’m truly SO proud of her and the way she managed her life! She made things so much easier as we navigate through our new normal. As her only child, left to handle her affairs, I’m even more grateful that she poured so much energy into making sure the process would be as seamless as possible.
I’m not only motivated to do the same for my family, but I’m so eager to share with others how she did it!

How can I support the family?
Babysitting Dylan (6 months old) for a few hours at a time would help tremendously.
Davis takes comfort in having company, so please don’t stop visiting. It’s even better if you have children around his age (9 years old).
Please don’t forget about us after the funeral, especially with the holidays approaching. Christmas was San’s favorite holiday.
